Resistor by Levi D Smith

Resistor by Levi Smith is an addictive little puzzler with an electrical theme and is available now on Indie games for 80 MSP.

For those of you with any electrical knowledge whatsoever will find the objective of Resistor familiar, the rest of us will not find it familiar in the slightest but it is easy enough to figure out after a level or 2.  The objective is to build a connection which will allow the flow of electricity to a number of electrical components but in order to avoid damaging the components the electrical flow needs to be controlled using the resistors.

As I’ve no electrical knowledge (other than press the switch and it comes on) I didn’t really know how to meet the objective and with no tutorials or labels showing what the icons were on screen it took a few levels and a bit of trial and error until I finally figured out.  After you figure it out it is quite easy and very enjoyable.  My other little niggle with the game was the music, after a few minutes of playing it becomes a bit repetitive and a distraction.

The brilliance of this game though is the puzzle layouts.  Sometimes they look very easy but when you realise that you have to fit in the resistors in order to not damage the components it becomes quite a challenge to complete them.  Mr Smith has included 90 cleverly designed levels in this game which is great news for those of you with a love of puzzlers.

Resistor is a nice little game and is great fun to play.  A lot of thought has gone into the layout of the levels and the balance between challenging and enjoyable is excellent.  Whether you are one for puzzle games or not, this game is great value for money and should be in everyones Indie games collection.
